Yeah, damn 3.1 update. Thanks for investigating this volkspost, although I doubt there is going to be an easy solution.
I'm staying on 3.0 for now...

Yep, I hate Apple for doing this. I do use a factory locked iPhone with a carrier allowing tethering and VoIP both for free. With 3.1 now both does not work.
The carrier bundles still work at firmware 3.1, it is just tethering...
We#ll have to wait for the jailbreak to further investigate whats going on on the iPhone then.

My guess is that we will have to resort to a MobileSubstrate module or patch to disable the signature checking. This will be hard.

I have a factory unlocked 3G and I plan to start working on this one soon.

Hmm... So is the signature part in the new carrier bundles all we need to enable tethering again? I know this is already hard enough, but do we need to touch the baseband as well?
Since .mobileconfig enabled tethering is broken as well I'm assuming that iPhone Configuration Utility is not of any help either? Is there an option to sign a configuration file?
I mean, seriously Apple, this is ridiculous! There's a built-in option for tethering and now we have to take one step back again using third-party software to do this?
    I'm sorry moderators... I'm just mad .

I agree its a real pain in the a**e

Reading the Dev Team Blog seems that they intend to try & patching this in the JB process..

I've got my fingers crossed this happens soon

Thanks for the great .ipcc generator.

I was wondering if there is a field to enable and enter the proxy for the "data for internet" section? Currently, I use the iPhone Configuration Utility to enable the proxy. Thanks.

Yes it does. You have to open the ipcc file (it is a zip format) and then edit the two png's or the carrier.plist file inside the bundle. Easier way would be to edit the png's.
The you'd have to re-package the ipcc.
Easiest way: Create an ipcc and just insert a blank into the field where you are forced to enter then displayed carrier name (field is the one called "Logo text")
