Can't power-on, unless connected with A/C power (after Geo HW mod)
Hi, Bother,
My friend try to mod his iPhone using Geo's needle method.
Without luck, his iPhone bricked.
He can only power-on his iPhone by A/C power and iPhone only
show a "Apple" logo, then power-off.
He has passed his iPhone for me to do the final inspection.
I saw many many people got this problem after Geo's mod, but
didn't found any workable solutions. Someone said the iPhone will
wake up after 24-48hrs for charges... however didn't work for my case.
Anybody resolved this issue? Please give us a hand or share some experience.

Enjoy your ibrick.
The iphone in that particular state will NOT power on w/o 5vdc going to the data lines and 12vdc going to the power lines on the usb cable. I just made my own Y cable and it was no-go. The only thing I can think to do is to grab the schematic for the doc and fart around with that, but it doesn't look all that hopeful.
Makes a good paperweight though.

I guess, since there has a sensitive power protection circuit (common in cellphone battery) in the battery, it will be jumped into the protected status because of "Short-Circuit" when you unlock the iPhone.
Anyway, I have ordered a battery replacement (US$20), let see whether I can un-brick it by replacing the battery. Bless and pray...

Ummm.. dont understand quite well.. So, all the iPhones that we unlock will have this damage? How we can protect from this? Unsoldering the battery and doin unlock process with any battery (3.7V or USB-Powered 3.7v)
Anyway, this is quite BAD. Im goin to my 2nd

I dont know why he didnt tell us this!! Anyway, I adapted a new-way of charging by making new 3.7v lines directly to the battery. Of course, this charging method is with the iPhone off

Works like a charm. The only thing is I damaged the Dock to do my experiment looking better

I'll post the pics later, sorry, im using a nokia1100 coz my Iphone is in experiment-state (anyway, still works

)
You mean you have resolved the problem by just putting external 3.7V power to charge up battery??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After Charge up, the iPhone can put into PC and do restore again?? Please confirm this method, if it works... you are the god of many people with bricked iPhone.
