    Default Can't get SFTP working..

Is it SFTP? I'm not sure, I'm a noob at network/security stuff..

    Well here's my problem..

I downloaded and installed installer.app on my PPC powerbook g4. After that, I installed openssh from the app itself. Does this mean that no more action is needed to get SSH on the iphone?

When I open transmit and try to connect to a SFTP server, I type in my IP address shown on the iphone, which is 192.168.0.XXX, not 10.0.1.X.etc...

I set the username as root and password as dottie, yet I still can't connect. I've tried many times, through transmit, fugu, and fetch.

    What am I doing wrong?

Never installed it via that route. This way worked the best for me: http://www.hacktheiphone.com/iphone_...l_ssh_mac.html and then http://www.hacktheiphone.com/iphone_...lient_mac.html

You might just be missing the sftp-server binary. The second link above will tell you more.

If ssh is installed correctly you should at least be able to login via terminal. Have a quick couple checks, if it looks iffy then maybe try the above methods.

I tried logging in through terminal using:
    ssh -l root
    and
    ssh root @ <IP>

    I get this error:
    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@
@ WARNING: REMOTE HOST IDENTIFICATION HAS CHANGED! @
    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@
IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING NASTY!
Someone could be eavesdropping on you right now (man-in-the-middle attack)!
It is also possible that the DSA host key has just been changed.
The fingerprint for the DSA key sent by the remote host is
    28:3c:a4:87:f2:77:15:a7:e7:03:e4:60:0f:12:39:16.
    Please contact your system administrator.
Add correct host key in /Users/Aakaash/.ssh/known_hosts to get rid of this message.
    Offending key in /Users/Aakaash/.ssh/known_hosts:1
DSA host key for 192.168.0.XXX has changed and you have requested strict checking.
    Host key verification failed.

I added the .XXX up there.

This method worked fine for a friend of mine who's using SSH perfectly, he even installed through installer.

    Nevermind, got it working.

I deleted the known_hosts file and tried another connection through sshfs, figured it out and it's all good.

    Thanks for the advice
