hey guys i noticed that when im transfering data, i can recieve phone calls, i read through the forums and nobody seems to know the answer. Is there any way to give phone calls priority while transfering data? is there a gsm command or file we can edit to give phone calls priority? thanks for ur help guys

it depends on the device.

From what i can see the iphone will allow calls to come in over wif (makes sense) but blocks them while using GPRS or Edge (crappy but understandable).

The problem is that the iphone is a GPRS class B device which uses all available data channels to download the data, probably to maximise the download / upload rate. This means there is no way for the network to get through to the device and notify it of an incoming call request.

likewise if you are downloading data and try to make a call it willl have to suspend the data download.

ya but class b devices say that the connection will be interupted by a phone call and then return when the call hangs up. so if it is a class b device it should interupt the data transfer for a phone call

In the current version of the iPhone firmware, this is an issue. It happens on all iPhones.

EDIT: And there currently is no fix.

For me, it depends on the SIM card and the service provider.

I tried 2 different operator's SIM card. One cannot receive calls while transferring EDGE data to my iPhone, but while the others can. Hope that help
