Default Can't Bypass Activation - Can I somehow use an active iPhone to trick it?

Hi. My husband has an activated working iPhone and I was given one today. I'm not ready to activate it and won't for the next couple of weeks. I'd like to be able to use the bypass hacks but frankly, I don't understand how to get them going. I really wish some of the instructions were more clear for those of limited knowledge like me.

Isn't there some way of swapping the SIM between these 2 iPhones to somehow get this dead iPhone working? Anyone know? Or, if not, does anyone know of a site that basically says "bypass activation hack for dummies?"

    Thank you.

This seems to be fairly simple to me as far as instructions and lists well over 8 different methods. So not sure why you believe the directions are not clear.

Actually, do you mind doing a quick and simple test before doing anything?
    According to this thread:

It might be interesting to see if your husbands activated SIM card would work in your Unactivated Iphone.
Do you mind just slipping in his SIM card to see if the iphone will Log on the AT&T Network and work with his SIM Card?
    Let us know!! thanks!

I got everything to work using the iActivator program. A snafu or 2 but I just quit the program, reloaded, and continued. Awesome!

Tak - I tried swapping the SIM last night and it did nothing to the non-activated phone. Perhaps if I re-activated it via iTunes (as if it was a loaner phone from Apple), but I was afraid of messing up his phone for work today.

    meagain:

Please confirm: You took the stock AT&T sim card from your husband's ACTIVATED AND WORKING iPhone, and put it in your brand spanking new iPhone, and it DID NOT WORK?

Just to be clear, please confirm...

    Thanks

David - That is correct. I had the same screen as one would get when one opens a new sealed box.

Followup: It seems one "should" be able to merely swap SIMs without jumping through hoops but mine doesn't allow this. Today I tried:

    1. Putting husband's good SIM into my IActivator hacked phone. The phone acted the same as with the hack. Showed all my sync'd files. No Youtube. When plugged into his laptop's iTunes, iTunes listed it as "My" phone instead of my husband's name.

    2. Restored hacked phone to stock. Put good SIM in.

Both times saw the non-activated phone getting a welcome screen acting as if I were a current AT&T customer with phone only service and telling me they are about to sign me up for the $20 data plan. This $20 screen comes up after a screen that asks for the cell phone number, last 4 digits of social #.

    Weird.
