Cool Cancel O2 contract, will iPhone remained activated?

    Hi,

I recently purchased an iPhone the other day and I have it activated with the O2 iPhone tariff. I was wondering, would I be able to cancel this contract, as i am within 14 days, if the iPhone would remain activated so I can use a different O2 contract instead (simplicity).

    Yes I've done it myself

Cancel the contact but don't stop the direct debit if you do and they mite still try to take a payment if its rejected that gives them a reason to block your phone.

Even after I canceled they still took one payment from my account, All I had to do was contact 02 and they refunded it back to me.

This phone is now JB'd on 1.1.3 and HW downgraded to 3.9bl working on Vodafone

That is great news. Would it also be safe to say that I would be able to recieve updates without having to Jailbreak the phone?

    Thanks!

Yes and No.. my 02 sim still activtes the phone after a restore but only goes so far waiting for signal from the 02 cell.

Because you wouldn't have a signal if you canceled it pops up a message now and then saying "Waitng for network to complete activation"

But If you Jailbreak with dev Team that problem goes away.

So aslong as I stick to an O2 simplicity SIM card I should be fine?

I don't think I'll be able to jailbreak yet as i've updated the phone to 1.1.3 in itunes my bad.

So thats why I was thinking of just sticking in a normal O2 sim card and stop paying £35 a month and instead go to £25 a month on O2 simplicity with more texts and minutes.

O2 are doubling the minutes for iphone users from this month, just stay on the 35 deal.

Not sure if you know, but they changed the iPhone tariffs on the 1st Feb... for £35 you now get 600mins, 500 txt, unlimited Edge, visual voicemail + hot spots.... IMO, making it more attractive than than the £25 simplicity plan + web bundle, which totals £32.50 p/m...
