    Exclamation Canadians! Cheaper Rogers data! 1GB for $65

    Hello fellow Canadians that are being killed with high data costs!
    This new price is not by any means competitive enough but it is better!

    I was in one of the Rogers stores yesterday (in Yaletown in Vancouver) and got to talking to the manager about data costs (Guy was his name) with the iPhone. He told me that Rogers offers a data package that is not available over the phone or online but if I wanted he could offer me a better data plan if i signed up for it in store (clearly they get a cut when they sign up new people).

    The plane is much better then anything else Rogers offers

    1GB of data per month for $65

    the catch? You must sign a 3 year contract just for the data! or $100 to cancel the data early. Even if you have a Rogers plan already.

    Hope this saves some of you guys some $$$$$

    Wow... I've been using this plan on my iPhone for the past 2 months... I didn't have to sign any data contracts. In fact, I'm opposed to signing any data contract since I suspect we'll have a better plan in January for our iPhones.

    All I did was call up Rogers and ask for the $65/1Gb plan and the guy looked it up and couldn't really explain to me what it was, but gave it to me anyway.

    The funny thing is that I once called and complained about my $100 / 200 MB plan when Telus announced a $100 / 1GB plan and Rogers gave me a $30 monthly credit which they never removed when I upgraded my plan... So I'm paying $35 for 1 GB

    SHWEEET! I'm in University so I don't have money for data, but I have a pretty good plan from Rogers. All it takes is some complaining. They gave me 200 daytime, unlimited incoming, unlimited nights beginning at 6pm, unlimited weekends, my5 canada-wide, caller id, VM, 125 texts all for $40. I thought it was a deal.

    That's a really good deal! I pay $10 for the voice mail and extras and don't even get 125 texts But I got a good plan too, but it's a 3yr voice plan:

    * 725 minutes
    * Unlimited rogers/fido calling (both ways)
    * Unlimited early evenings (I think 5pm or 6pm)
    * Unlimited weekends

    I pay $45 for that. But than I pay $10 for a communications value pack (voice mail, caller id, name display, WhoCalled) and of course for my data plan.

    I really need the minutes because I was getting raped on my old Blackberry plan... 150 minutes, unlimited evenings starting at like 9pm!! like wtf, and 50 MB data (compressed) lol. I paid $95 for that..

    This plan is the 'PC Card Plan', as opposed to the $80/500mb plan for Windows Mobile Devices (HTC/Treo).

    The crazy thing is that they both use Edge and are the same thing except for the price and the amount of data. Rogers is just pricing according to markets and knowing what they can get away with. You'd think that'd be something the CRTC would protect consumers from, but they don't seem to be paying attention to mobile data at all.

    I got this plan by just telling the person that I was getting a wireless PC card from my workplace and it was added. $65/month still makes me sick (and I don't need that much data), but it's the best value so far.

    I think the $80/500 MB Plan is "compressed" according to the Rogers tech... Sounds like BS unless it's using a different APN, like the Blackberries... But yeah, $65/1Gig is the best value so far. The catch is you aren't supposed to be able to have a voice plan attached to the same SIM according to the fine print.

    Does anyone know if this can be used on their 3G handsets?
