Talking [Canada] Unlimited Browsing for Rogers Wireless?

I recently downloaded Zibri's Ziphone thing, which allows jailbreak/activate/...etc.

Under the "Advanced" tab, there is an option called "Change phone's IMEI".

I currently have a Rogers K790 with the $7 unlimited data plan...if I insert my K790 IMEI into the iPhone using Ziphone...will I be able to surf unlimited using my hacked iPhone?

    any advice will be appreciated

i am in montreal and currently using rogers just like you. i believe with rogers you dont have to go through that process. I know that with FIDO you do but with rogers you are safe. i have the 7$ package and never changed IMEI with ziphone. so surf all you want buddy!
    - iPhone 8GB
    - Rogers Network
    - Running on FW 2.2
    - Jailbroken using QuickPwn

I have an unlocked 1.1.1 OTB. I am using Rogers and have not changed my IMEI on the phone. I signed up for the unlimited data plan. Does this mean I can surf unlimited on the iphone and not get charged??

    pretty sure "no"...cauz:

    1) iPhone browses by full HTML, while the $7 plan applies only to unlimited "WAP"
    2) Rogers tracks you through IMEI

which is what I'm trying to change. Sumbit my IMEI from K790 to iPhone...and then hack it so I only browse WAP on Safari. kinda tricky....

I hope one of the American cell companies come up with an Unlimited International Plan...then I'll just do down south and buy that and bring the phone up here

It's just common sense you cannot expect to be able to have a free data plan for only $7 a month, especially in Canada. Your going to get a huge bill, of over a $1000 if you listen to other people.
Rogers/Fido will close this loophole soon and not tell you. Better to be safe then sorry.

P.S. You can change your IMEI so that they think it's your old phone, but they'll be able to tell soon that your NOT just WAP surfing, and that your downloading alot more data.

I am on the $7/month plan with Fido; I didn't change IMEI or anything and was not billed for data. So no, you won't get a huge bill. Unless...

...they do that. If you decide to do this, make sure you specify that you are using an iPhone and have them put a note on your account. To be safe, record the conversation as well. Regardless of any fine print on their website, if a rep adds it to your account with the knowledge that you are using an unlocked, unsupported phone you should be alright.

From what I hear, the Rogers CSRs are much less willing to help you out than the Fido CSRs (even though they are technically the same company).
