Can the iPhone 3G be jailbroken on all baseband's and modem firmware?
So my contract runs out on my phone tomorrow and im going to get either an iphone 3g or an iphone 3gs which ever one i pick would be brand new in the box, However i have read so many stories about the 3GS being almost impossible to lock on 3.1.2 if its past week 40. I plan to use the sim card that comes with the phone so i dont need an unlock i would only need a jailbreak so i could install cydia etc...
Jailbroken - yes

Only the 05.12.01 modem firmware that is included in OS 3.1.3 cannot be unlocked or downgraded on a brand new 3G. If the 3G shipped with OS 3.1.2 you could unlock it and then take care to never upgrade the baseband without knowing in advance that the upgraded baseband can be unlocked.
