Default Can I buy a iPhone from a At&T without signing up for a service?

    Hi, I'm new here.

I live in Finland, and I'm on my way to the US for vacation soon. I'm looking to buy two iPhones. One for me and one for my Brother. I know it only works with AT&T, but even if I can't get it to work as a phone in Finland, I'd still be using it as a iPod etc.

So my question is; can I buy one from an AT&T store without signing for a service contract with AT&T?

yes you can. tell them you are from out of the country. they will just sell it to you. if all else fails...order one now online and have it delivered to where you are staying in the us.

Just tell them it is a gift for your relatives in *enter state name here*. That should work.

I'm from Canada and have purchased 2 saying they are gifts. They don't care anyways, they only take your name and email address.

Buy them from an Apple shop rather than AT&T. I recently bought 3 from an Apple shop in Florida and acitvated them with Independance no probs. AT&T shops I have read can give problems.

walk into an Apple store when you are in the US and tell them you want to buy two iPhones. No hassles.

Seriously, these are not the things you need to get worried about. All you need to do is make a gift story or a surprise story. As suggested you get them from an Apple Store. I think they ll hardly have any questions for you. They ll not mind untill you give them their $399 for the Iphone
