    Default [Camera] Change Image Naming Counter - IMG_xxxx.jpg

    Hi

    So, the iPhone saves the pictures you take with it's builtin camera to IMG_xxxx.jpg on an ascending order, with 0001 being the first one.

    When you restore or upgrade your firmware, the counting starts from beginning. I post lots of my pictures on my website, and its a problem when I have multiple images with the same name, as I have to keep renaming them.

    Is there a way to tell the iPhone what the "Last" image was, so that it would continue on counting from there? It must be a file somewhere keeping this,

    Thanks

    Ben

    Hi

    Any advice would be helpful here, It's getting really annoying to change the image names all the time.

    I have been through 5 (missed 1.1.3) firmwares from 1.0.1 to 1.1.4 and it means I have 5 sets of pictures all with the same name. If I could put an end to it, I would be really happy,

    I guess its a matter of a file i need to modify which holds the last taken photo's name?

    Thanks

    Ben

    I am on 1.1.4 and you can combat this issue by editing the info.plist file in /var/root/mobile/Media/DCIM/.MISC/
    in
    <dict>
    <key>LastFileGroupNumber-100</key>
    <integer>347</integer>
    </dict>

    347 is the number of the last picture taken, for me it is at 347 the next picture i take will be IMG_0348.JPG
    i everytime i refresh my phone i set the number to the highest number picture i have and it just keeps incrementing. one thing to make sure when you grab the JPG's also grab the THM's or you'll have to create new thumbnails again.
