Caller ID frustration - Please help!!!
Hi all, my first thread so I appologise greatly in advance because I know there is probably a million posts already on this.
Does anyone have a really easy way of fixing the frustrating dilima of how incoming calls and SMS's are handled with the iPhone 3G 2.1 for Australian format?
I have tried all the hex editing that I have found on the net but still have no luck. I really cannot believe how hard this has to be. I love the phone, but if I can't fix it, it's going in the bin!
All I want to achieve is to have my contacts (synced from Outlook) show me the name of the person calling (not the frigging number), the name of the person sending me an SMS (not the frigging number) and the name of the person in my call log history (not the frigging number)! Is it really that hard?
I don't want to carry two or more contact numbers for each contact when every other single phone in the world seems to manage! Maybe I'm entering the contact number incorrectly in outlook, but I've tried everything! I've even tried all the add on apps that I can find through Cydia, but nothing seems to work.
Can someone please save me from ending up in a loony bin?
Just an easy way to achive this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
That's why there is a search function...

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.
Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).
