Geohot left this out of blackra1n and his answer when musclenerd quizzed him on this was that users could install afc2add from cydia to get this feature.
    Ah, I see.

Geohot is brilliant in reversing software, but lacks the patience that's required to be a developer of reliable, fool-proof end-user software.

That leaves SSH, if Zarathustra installed that, or a custom ramdisk. But I guess he has probably restored by now.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

Well i have seen around 7 or 8 handsets 3g/3gs with a device disabled- please wait screen displayed, oddly enough the timer displays 21 million minues on ALL units, and does not decrease

I asked around IRC and nobody had heard of that issue before, customers needed to recover data from these units, so i just send over a modified springboard prefs file inside redsnows cydia payload which does the trick, i have the app saved somewhere if anyone needs to use it for non nefarious purposes

not difficult to figure out, you can use irecovery to send over a ramdisk for windoze which is a lot better than waiting for redsnow to finish a jb each time

also the keychain removal only works from ifunbox etc when you have a pairing record, (and a2fc) so if the device is not yours (ie you've never connected to your pc in an unlocked state' you won't have much luck

I have iPad under iOS 4.2.1 with greenpois0n jailbreak and I have set a password for restricting the deletion of apps because my 2 year old son loves when icons start shaking and then disappear when he touch a cross (it's he's favorite game on iPad though). But I have forgotten this password and now need to delete some apps but I can't
I tried to delete /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist and /Library/Keychains/keychain-2.db through but it does not work. Maybe I need to delete another files because it's not an user lock passcode, it's a restrictions passcode.
    Can anyone help me?

P.S. I don't want to restore iPad though...

i have an iphone 4. jailbroken with jailbreakme.com. i changed my passcode and forgot what i put in like a genius!
i have tried to remove the keychain, the apple.springboard thing many times with diskaid, ifunbox and iphone browser. NONE worked! I am not a computer genius but it doesnt seem too hard to figure out and done it many times as i stated. there are many videos on youtube that teach this. it doesnt work on my iphone 4 though at ALL!
i am still locked out because of the 4 digit passcode. i have tried this for 2 days. Can anyone at all tell me how to reset or remove this passcode?

Next time, please search the forums more thoroughly.

Removing passcode is no longer simple or possible for an end user. It requires a lot more than "jailbroken iPhone with OpenSSH installed".

I've replied to several near-identical threads all asking the same thing "remove passcode on 4.x"

Summary: Apple made this MUCH more secure in 4.x. Yes it is still possible, but it requires bruteforce offline cracking of the passcode. This requires special software that is only made available to sworn law enforcement. So in reality it's NOT possible for an end user and none of the online guides work past iOS 3.1.3
