I wonder it’s possible to bypass the iphone thru another cell phone via Bluetooth, in that case we become able to make call as we do using a Bluetooth headset, and the iphone will become the headset , instead of say a name we can record the sounds of a phone number.

Frankly: so you want other people to believe that you're actually using your SIM locked iPhone for making calls, right?!

The best way of doing that would be to get Skype working - I guess that must be one of the priority goals of the hacking schedule ?

Skype on the iPhone a priority goal? Didn't know. I'd say that removing the SIM Lock is THE priority goal right now, after removing the SIM Lock, a lot of new possibilities open up, I'm pretty sure about it. Especially since people, incl. some developers, will be able to actually USE the phone module of the iPhone, creating some further desire for modding the iPhone as much as possible.
Skype would be nice but since I don't have a hotspot around any corner, it would be pretty much useless to me. Removing the SIM Lock is the best way to stimulate the iPhone independent developer community to achieve new goals and to find new ideas.

I have to agree that Unlocking it is of course THE priority goal - I'm just assuming from what I've read so far that unlocking will prove very difficult and something like Skype might be a useful stopgap - at least it would give me the chance to pretend to others that the phone is working !!

I probably didn't understand your intention...but let me get that straight:
1. you have a non-working iPhone.
2. you have a working old phone.
3. everytime you need to make a call, whatever is the method you are proposing, you will have the 2 cell phones with you.

So even if your method works, whatever method this is, why don't you call from your old cell phone?

Actually, in 1987 I had a cellphone the size of 4 bricks that did work.

Simple answer: because his old phone doesn't look cool enough.

Apple didn't implement the VERY important A2DP profile, how does this guy think that it would actually be possible to do what he wants with the iPhone?! I don't want to sound like a smartass but sometimes it helps READING the specs of the iPhone and READING this very valuable forum.
By the specs alone it is clear, that it is NOT possible to use the iPhone as a "bluetooth headset" to be able to make calls with a second bluetooth enabled phone.

Regarding the missing A2DP profile, it may be possible that Apple did that by purpose to be able to offer a proprietary wireless stereo headset/headphone with the Apple brandmark on it. It also sucks big time that I can't use regular wired high quality headphones with the iPhone because they don't fit. Apple did it again.
