Since we have access to a full library of binaries, and if it were possible to get around the SIM attempt counter, couldn't we just have the phone run a bruteforce app in the background and continue/resume where it left off? For one, the low baud rate would mean minimal impact on phone CPU and battery life since other processes run on the phone that are more intensive, right?

I ahve finished the brute space of 99mio attemps and no cigar. The phone still says unlockable but no go here.
More results on the baseband "status" will be posted on the wiki once analysis is finished. I assume the baseband was fucked up by the bruteforce now, more technically as it does not respond to basic at commands correctly anymore.
In any case we will see. in worst case I will need to reflash the phoen and than check. More later.
Keep us updated. If there is a way to keep brute forcing without permanent damage let me know I can volunteer mine to 24 hours a day.
I just canceled with AT&T :p
