I'm not quite sure I understand... you want to recover some files from your iPhone? Or you want to get it to work again?
I assume what you want is to get it to work properly again since you already attempted to restore.
In that case what happens if you try to restore to 2.0 through iTunes?

I'm pretty sure that using a pwning tool either winpwn (Windows) pwnage tool (mac) to create a custom firmware of 2.0.1, put the phone into DFU mode then restore the phone using itunes will bring your phone back to life. If you have a backup on your pc then you'll get your info back. Here's some guides
PS Copying files from over from your friends iphone wont do what you want it to.
