Hello, (Wall of text)

I'm a new guy here to the forum and to the jail breaking scene.

Here's the problem:
My dad bought an iphone off eBay for my younger brother as it was round 80 pounds. We received the phone and my dad went to restore the phone to its original settings.

So he goes through iTunes(Windows) plug's in the iphone itunes detects it and he hits restore on it. All goes well - > downloads the Os for it 4.2 something , extracts prepares the iphone etc and once it gets to verifying the iphone it hits a snag - Error 1015 - right.

So we tried the restore process again and the same error pops up.

So I take the iphone and try doing it on my pc, same thing happens - we call the guy up and he says it was jailbroken - does not tell us anything else basically.

So I went and looked around tried using tinyumbrella - it kicks it out of recovery mode I get the apple logo - alright progress - but once again I try the process error 1015.

After that I tried using the iReb software I hit the fixes auto recovery/1015 errors but that does not work. Then the iphone just goes blank I cant get it to power on or do anything I tried the DFU mode but does not work.

I have tried using so many different types of software(which is probably my mistake) iFaith/sn0wbreeze/forcast , tried installing different customer firmware/Os using the shift-restore method same error.

Is anyone able to help me gain my iphone back to its normal state through any means possible or am I stuck with a paper weight?

Also, what SHSH blobs do you have saved?
