Alright I have good news. I was in the shower and something occured to me. It went like this:

Maybe, the part I bought is defective, but if the computer is reading the iPhone in iTunes how could it be defective?
I thought... Turns out iTunes will read an iPhone based on the charging port alone (and maybe some unseen connection) and the whole time it thought it was restoring properly when really there was a faulty connection with the sdd. So I put in the old one (sure I don't get cellular signal but I need to make sure it's defective) and TaDa! It restores flawlessly. Guy is sending me a new one right now =]

So, I guess that if this happened to someone that didn't make any hardware changes (yeah, I opened the thing but just to change the glass) to it's iPhone... I'm pretty much screwed, right? =(.
