Quick little note,EVERYONE on T-Mobile using an iphone is having this problem after tmobile updates their network,if your on tmobile and not having this issue then your local net has yet to be updated.and if you think you fixed this problem by resetting your VM (or any other method) then try calling your VM and wait approx 20sec while connected to your VM and the blank SMS will come back.I have searched and searched for a fix to no eval, hopefully there will be either a patch for us iPhone users or tmobile will correct the problem on their end. If you really have found away around this issue and don't get the blank SMS after being connected to your VM for over 30sec then please share.otherwise welcome aboard the 2012 phantom SMS ship...

did you try resetting your VM password, like the other guy above who says it solved his problem on 2G iPhone?
my current fix is to turn off the sound for text message notifications.. I still see the blank text on my phone, just dont want my phone alerting me with sound.. not a perfect solution, just my way..

call T-Mobile
Greetings.
I would take the time (10min) to call in. The more that call in, the higher of importance this is to T-Mobile. Please call in. The person I spoke with said it was an issue that the iphone doesn't like on the tmobile network. He did say the engineers are looking into it, but also, clearly said, they may not solve the problem. So Please call and make some waves, and remember be nice. I do believe they want to help! But numbers speak!!! if they can't support iphone then there could be issues....
thanks!!!

I am glad to hear that it is not just me, I was wondering if it had anything to do with my internet not working. I guess i will have to look around.

So far the quickest fix is to go in to setting and turn off and on the airplane mode every time you do that it fetches your voice mail data. It doesn't get rid of the annoying text but at least keeps the voice mail button up to date.
Call T mobile!

I use iphonespeedtest.com
on wifi I get over 600 kbps
on Tmo edge I get 80 kbps
and when I run an ATT Sim, with 3G speed, I get over 400kpbs
ATT is MUCH faster than Tmobile, but it also costs $25 a month more

So everyone on here having the problem, get in your car and run on down to the T-Mobile store and take the, literally, 2 minutes to get a replacement SIM and all of your worries will be gone.
Good, but are you seeing the voicemail indicator when you actually receive a message?

the skinny
I just called T-Mobile, and here's what tier-3 support told me. We basically have 2 options:
1) Ask them to disable the voicemail waiting indicator (VWI) -- not a good option, since then you won't know when you have voicemails waiting.
or
2) Put up with the blank IM you get every time you check voicemail or receive a voicemail.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's going to be a fix for this. T-Mobile says that the problem is with the iPhone. They say that the workaround is to disable visual voicemail on the iPhone, but as far as I can tell, there is no way to do that without disabling voicemail altogether.
Does anyone have more information on how to disable just the visual part of voicemail?
