Edge is always slow for me. I'm from Jersey (very close to NY), and my edge is slow to decent. I did the test and i got like 80mbps. Most times, it will be like 40. I wish it was faster because the iphone can definitely handle it.

    One day...

Well the usage in NY is very high, so its possible there are just alot of other users on edge. I am in Texas and Edge is pretty fast here.

internet2.voicestream.com doesn't work at all for me.
my signal bar is full right now. and only getting 46.7kbps this time.

I have the t-mobile total internet package and internet2.voicestream.com works just fine for me in IL. I got better speeds then the t-zones hack too, close to double.

I'm not sure why if you have the package it's not working. Once I called and changed over the APN, it took about 2 hours but it was up and running and been fine ever since. I changed over last September.

Blackberry internet and total internet are two different packages. With the blackberry package, you have to use the tzones hackand the wap apn. With the total internet, you use the internet2 apn.

The speeds should be very similar, as the bottleneck in EDGE is on the air interface and the backhaul to the core network. These are the exact same for tzones and total internet. The only place they are different is in the GGSN which connects to the internet. I have tested both and at the same location the speeds are the same.

Well i work for a local telecom and we have at&t cell service we sell but under the telecom names.

I had a BB8800 and still use it when i am at work and switch out the sim when i had home from work. The so called BB internet that only works with BB i think dealing with the email severs for blackberry while the internet runs on the same apn or what ever u wanna call it. In the your BB u can check what apn and so on you are useing. The one for internet should be the same as any other phone use for internet use. Well at less here it is.

On speed issuse i get 115K no problems all the time. But also even if it was on 3g the only real avg over edge is the speed to runs from the tower to your cell phone. Rest runs on the same t1 cards that a 3g runs on. Dont Fuss me out on this stuff. Like i said i work in the CO of a local telecom and install t1's all the time for verizon (evdo rev a(i think)) suncom (tm now) alltel, at&t and others. Its all the same cards the feeds the tower are the same BW.

If you live in a really rural area, then your cell sites might not be edge capable. T-Mobile can also disable edge temporarily when one of the sites T1's go down. They do this so they can reduce the impact on voice users while they repair the damaged t1.
