BIG BIG IDEA: Flash might work...
Hey all.
I have a crazy idea on how to get Flash on the touch/iPhone.
Leopard's Safari is probably one of the closest to the one on these devices right? I was rooting through my touch's file system and found a directory that has the plugins for Safari. I was lucky enough to find the same folder on my new installation of Leopard.
/Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
Lo-and-behold there is Flash Player.plugin and flashplayer.xpt.
Could we some how copy these files and inject the safari pref files with the handling of the mime type to that plugin?
Has anyone thought of this before?

Sure it'll work - you just have to find a copy of Leopard that runs on ARM CPUs...

Who knows what is exactly inside those .plugin files?

if it is the samsung 600mhz processor, made by marvell, then it may be the same used in WM6 mobile devices, they play flash IIRC
now i'll let the people who know about these things comment, i jsut spent 3 mins on wikipedia

You canīt do that,
Because Leopard works on Intel Processors and Mobile Safary runs on ARM architecture. You must compile the flash plugin for ARM before get it working in your device. You are right your Idea is crazy. But good try.

taguapire, it is true that with the processor architecture renders the already compiled binaries unusable.
There is, however, an open-source project called Gnash (http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash) that implements features of Flash Player up to 7. According to the documentation (http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash/manual/gnash.pdf) it supports three types or renderers, one of which is OpenGL. I believe that having this project (optimized and) compiled as a native application for the iPhone is possible. Furthermore, the team behind Install.app have proved that it is possible to build plug-ins for MobileSafari.
I am a Windows-based developer and cannot work on and try this myself, so I would definitely appreciate hearing what you might have to say about this.
