Default Best Way to backup/restore contacts/etc from a firmware update?

I went from anysim 1.1.4 to pwnage 2.0.1 and did a restore from my older backup data. I get intermittent hangs and lockups and am told that it is because I restored from an older backup. However, this is the only way I know of getting all my old contacts and settings. Honestly, I dont really care too much about re-entering my settings but I do not want to re-enter 300 entries worth of phone numbers and addresses. Is there a 3rd party program in Cydia or something that will backup just my contacts? Or is there a way to restore just my contacts/photos through itunes without doing a total restore?

IMHO the best way to keep your contacts in sync, if you are not using Outlook, is with Yahoo mail. I have a Yahoo account that I barely USE. I use this as my contacts back-up tool. So if I need to do a clean install, all my contacts will sync back into my phone without an issue.

The idea might be good, but how do you sync your contacts etc. now with yahoo???

Of course you need to sync your content with iTunes. When you connect your phone, you shold have a look at all the pages behind "General". There's all you need...

I have a Yahoo account solely for this purpose. Works great.
