    Default battery low alarm

anyone got any ideas on how one would go about setting an alarm to go off when the battery is about to die; well enough time to end the call and switch to land line or plug in the charger if on a call (say 2mins or so)?

it already warns you at ten and twenty percent, these are to tell you to charge the phone and stop using it. I really don't see the need for anything else.

onsreen warnings are provided and the battery icon changes to red. Sorry but I don't think it gives a audio warning, but even if it did you wouldn't hear it over the sound of a call, as I can never hear my alarms go off during a call, alarm sounds are fairly low.
but I don't often make hour + calls so would always look at the phone when ending calls and notice the alerts and the red battery icon.

If you charge your phone every night its quite hard to run flat even if using it for 10 hours of calls.

ok, so back to the point, anyone know of any way to interrogate the battery to find out the details; i.e 5% remaining etc? is there an API for the ACPI or anything like that?
