Perfect!! I was just looking for something like this. UIctl makes it so easy to start and stop ssh/tinyproxy.

So I have OpenSSH installed on my iphone (OSX unlock). I have no idea what this is (admittedly a novice) and so I'm just want to know for what reasons do I need to have OpenSSH running? I'm just trying to make sure that if I turn it off it won't harm anything or make my phone not function properly. I have Ulctl downloaded and ready to "deactivate" OpenSSH. I just want to make sure it's ok to do so. I notice my battery life draining.

You use OpenSSH every time you want to connect in to your phone via SSH (to run command-line stuff like minicom etc).

Unless you're planning on doing that regularly, you won't notice any difference except longer battery life by disabling it! It doesn't affect your itunes sync, or other 3rd party apps you use/install with Installer.app

Thanks for this tip by the way, it works well.

SSH is used by geeks to connect to other computers (iPhone is just a regular computer from Internet point of view). If you never used it, you don't need it.

Thank you! I'm going to go ahead and do it now. I changed the password already.
