Default battery life and services app

i am running 1.1.1 unlocked and seem to really have a crappy battery life of 5 hour talk time and about 13 or so hours of stand by so i follow the instructions and navigated to the update file using iBrickr 0.91 (the file size is 8924) witch i believe to be correct but even tho this is the right file i still seem to have crappy battery life so i decided to go ahead and replace it with the update.orig found in windows system 32. is this a right move to do or better yet have done or should i have put the update without the .orig.... any advice..

my second question is i just recently installed services app via installer so i could deactivate EDGE, the first time i ran it the SSH showed up as being ON but quickly disappeared and when i ran services app again it never popped up again i did remove it from installer better yet a did a restore. and help with that would be great

PS; i also seem to have a problem deactivating EDGE i can turn it OFF using services app but when i run services app again to activate WiFi EDGE comes ON.
help with that would also be appreciated.

    thanks in advance.

The battery life depends on which ssh version you've got installed on your phone.

If it's dropbear, you better remove it and install OpenSSH (need also the BSD SubSystem) that is stopping itself when there is no active connection.

If you forget to disable Dropbear when not needed, it is staying on listen mode and suck out all your battery real fast.

You can install UIctl from Installer.app, then run it and check for this "au.asn.ucc.matt.dropbear" if you can't find it, you've got another issue.

If you've got it, you must proceed like this:

    - Install BSD SubSystem and OpenSSH using Installer.
    - In UIctl you have to Tap on "au.asn.ucc.matt.dropbear" and choose "unload -w."
    - then connect in your iPhone using for:
    Windows users > use WinSCP

OS X users > use Terminal and type:
    ssh Your_iPhone_IP_Address -l root
    (default password is alpine)

    - delete the following files/folders in the iPhone:
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/au.asn.ucc.matt.dropbear.plist
    /etc/dropbear/dropbear_rsa_host_key
    /etc/dropbear/dropbear_dss_host_key
    /etc/dropbear (it's a folder)
    /usr/bin/dropbear

Now you're done with it, you can reboot/restart.

I have the same issue with Services app on 1.0.2. SSH showed up on first run, but then vanished immediately before I could change anything and it was still running. It never came back. SSH I have right now is org.thebends.openssh.sshd which I used UTctl to unload now. I've reloaded/unloaded to see if Services app would change and it never has, so I'm not sure why.

XianLi, I have dropbear installed and am kindda concerned about battery life. However dropbear is working well for me.

Now I have a few questions,

    1. If I keep dropbear and just "unload -w" "au.asn.ucc.matt.dropbear" using UIctl will that save my battery?

    2. Should I just use "load" "au.asn.ucc.matt.dropbear" using UIctl to run it again?

    3. What is the difference between "unload -w" and "unload"; "load" and "load -w" (is "-w" changing and saving the "au.asn.ucc.matt.dropbear.plist")?

    Thanks.
