    Default battery life

i unlocked my phone with iUnlock.app and ModMyIphone.com excellent guide! After that I uninstalled OpenSSH through Installer.app on my iPhone (I checked if I could connect afterwards) but I have to say battery life sucks!

I charge it every night! And I barely play with it. I maybe Call 1 hour a day, play for one hour a day, no WiFi, and 1 hour with iPhone use..

At the end of the day I get the 10% battery remaining..

is this normal? I thought the battery life was supposed to be good

That is not normal. I play with my phone a hell of a lot more than that and use wifi all the time and my battery is practically full as of 8PM this evening (unplugged for about 10 hours).

    There are several possible explanations...

    1. You live in a rural community or are far from a cell tower necessitating that the iphone use more power to communicate with the cellular network.

    2. You have installed some third party app that is draining your battery.

    3. Your battery is defective.

    Hope this helps.

Have you tried rebooting the phone?

Perhaps some background process is stuck on and draining your battery.

Also now that you are unlocked, try to restore and then reactivate via PayCay to make sure that you dont have any 3rd party left overs overstraining your phone's CPU.

Ive been using the phone far more vigoriously than you and been getting excellent battery life.

the rated specs for the battery are:

talk time: up to 8 hrs
    standby: up to 250 hrs
internet : up to 6 hrs
video playback: up to 7 hrs
audio playback: up to 24 hrs

so what you have is definitely below par. I suggest at the next cycle after u fully charged up the battery, note down how much time u spent on each activity and how much is battery is expected to be remaining: e.g. 100% - 2 hr talk time (25% used) + 6 hr audio (25%) + 2 days standby (20%) = 30% remaining. You can expect to get the low battery warning pretty soon with some more talk time and internet. That way u have a pretty good gauge of how your battery is performing.

after that try the old trick of cycle the battery: drain the battery (i didn't fully drain, just went it went down to 10% or so), and fully charge it (power off and leave it over night, takes 10+ hours to fully charge). Don't use it for anther 8 hours, power on and use. It made some difference for me. See if it helps!

Is your bluetooth turned on? Are you polling for email messages every 15 minutes?

I've read here and there that installing SSH will cause battery drain... any truth to that?

7hour video time? Is that accurate?

I get no more than 1 hour when playing videos form YouTube or from the phone itself.

I would also like to know about SSH draining the battery.

I get terrible battery life on my phone, especially if I watch videos.

Yup its been confirmed by reviewers.

I watched around 1 hour of video yesterday night (south park episode plus a chunk of a Robbin Williams stand up comedy) and my battery meter barely nudged.

    1. I live downtown the 3rd biggest city in Norway, so that is not a problem
    2. I got BSD subsystem, a ringtone pack, wallpaper pack, Kb and rSBT .. those wouldnt drain battery.. I uninstalled ssh via installer.app
    3. I sure hope not, I dont wanna ship it back to the US

If I do a restore in iTunes, is it still unlocked? IE. I just have to activate it through Independence?

    thanx
