I wanted to restore my iphone to factory settings (including the unlock) witch a simple itunes restore will not do, so i found the tutorial below in quotes i have done step 1 correct but when i try step 2 i get this:

# bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls
Error: failed to open or read the FLS file
Done

yes, here is what you can do.
as you mentioned you're now unlocked your iPhone, I'm gonna assume that your iphone is jailbroken+ssh+sftp, and when you say clean restore, you want your phone to back to firmware 1.02+locked status.

1. sftp to your iphone, copy bbupdater and ICE03.14.08_G.fls and ICE03.14.08_G.eep to /usr/bin, also set 755 permission to those files.

2. ssh to your iphone, and do:
bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls
bbupdater -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep
bbupdater -v

3. put your iPhone into recover mode by holding HOME+SLEEP buttons until you see the yellow triangle.

4. connect restore your iPhone with Itunes.

and there you get your clean restored.
