based on the proximity sensor the speaker phone could maybe switched on or off?

What a great idea - so obvious when you think about it, and it must be pretty easy to do (well, for Apple anyway). Like for example if you want to put your phone down in the middle of talking to someone to write something down...

I think it's a great idea. I would contact apple's iPhone feedback page so you can get this recommendation to them. I wouldn't be surprised if they included it in the next update.

This thread should be ported to the Native Apps section, that way I think it would get the atention it deserves. That is simply the best idea ever.

great idea, it would have to be a switchable option though eg if you have to look for a phone number while in a room of people

yes. i also thought about it and wrote it to apple.
i think it shouln't be a problem to make a switch for that behavior...

I've also posted it on the Apple discussion forums. Incidentally, does anyone follow those - what incredible censorship they apply to any Apple criticism.
