Aussie iPhone owners - where did you buy yours?
Hello all,
First post here but I've been a long-time follower of the threads for all things iPhone related.
I notice quite a few Aussies posting on the threads, even some with now working Turbo SIM solutions - nice work guys!
My question for the Aussies is where did you purchase your iPhone from, and can you give any recommendations? It doesn't seem like you can order internationally from the US apple.com site, and the ebay sellers generally charge about a $100US premium PLUS very expensive shipping. I guess the best option is to have someone bring one over for you, but at this point I don't know anybody who is making a trip to the US in the near future.
Can any Australian iPhone users share their sources for where they purchased their iPhones from?
Thanks, and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the info
I'm also in Tas so it's nice to know we can get some quick shipping down here.
$950 sounds like an awful lot to pay when the actual phone is only worth about $700AUD new, but that does seem to be about what most people are charging for the shipping and stuff - it might have to be the way to go.
Still keen to hear any other experiences Aussies have had!

Hi - I looked long and hard on ebay I finally foud a guy with good feedback i paid $630 USD for the 8gb iphone and $40 for postage that took 5 days.
Alternatively if you have the extra cash I just customised a new pink 8gb iphone for my wife from these guys who will happily post to Australia. They are very well known and have some great products http://www.colorwarepc.com/products/select_iPhone.aspx

I bought mine at the Apple San Francisco store; $599 + 8.5% sale tax: US $649
That's over AUD $800.
You tell me where you go your $700 from (even without sale tax).

Had my brother in NYC buy the phone from an AT&T store and send it to me with a three day delivery. Total came to around AUD$840 for the phone + sales tax + delivery.

I got mine from Ebay... payed 850$ with option to pick up it directly in Sydney.
Anyway, if you living in Sydney there are few "chinese" mobile/computer shops that have in stock some IPhone ready to be sold (all round the city).
Now, if you choose to buy from these shops:
1.ask for the price... they will start with an amount of 1400$ (it's true!)
2.involve them in a huge discussion around the unbelievable price
3.they will lower the price to 1000$
4.keep on point n.2 but you must be more hungry and the price will be 900$
5.at this stage simulate to do not be interested anymore at that bloody price
I bought one for my friend at 800$ as last price from the seller in the exact moment in which I was living the shop. I know, it still an high price respect what it should cost buying directly from Apple... but better than nothing.
Cheers.

Something else: now that Apple are selling refurbs for $100 off RRP, the prices on Ebay might be dropping.
