ATT Blue Charter Plan with software unlock, Outgoing SMS work?
Hi fellow ATT charter blue members... I successfully hacked the iphone using the software hack. Everything works except out going SMS messages. Any one get their SMS to work correctly? The thing is my out going SMS didnt work on my last phone either... is this because we are on the old sim? Any help will be appreicated... Thanks in advance.

YAY! Finally someone who can confirm the AT&T Wireless Blue Plan sims will work with the unlock. With regards to outgoing sms - go to AT&T Wireless online (different site than the new AT&T. Your account should be accessible here) and look for the SMS message center number for your region. You have to input this into SMS SETTINGS on your phone. There are different numbers for new AT&T and Blue plans. If you bought an unlocked phone, this number would not be automatically set - and if you got an AT&T phone it would have the new plan SMS number.
Now.. I've read rumors that AT&T can detect when an AT&T sim is used in an iPhone and if the AT&T sim is not subscribed to an iPhone Plan, AT&T will automatically update your plan.
I somehow doubt this to be true, but I've read a couple of unsubstantiated reports.
PLEASE post on this forum if you see anything like that. Check your accont online in a few days.....
Thanks

That was me talking with what amounted to an idiot kid or a clueless AT&T insider trying to scare people. If you believed what the barely literate cretin wrote, the action of sticking a sim card into an iphone and turning it on would 3 minutes later result in their web page being updated with your "new phone".
He would have us believe that the company that cannot stop itself from spending $7.00 + to mail out boxes consisting of a single monthly bill that illustrated each and every byte of data access (in an unlimited data plan) is so advanced that they can update their web page in minutes based on the action of you connecting to their GSM network. Bullshit.
I can tell you that I don't believe it to be true that AT&T has some method of detection and automatic FAN-stripping (not plan updating per se), but it certainly could be possible because the iPhone may well be hitting unique ports / talking to the network in a unique way. Friends of mine have unlocked and used their iPhone with AT&T blue, and have not seen this.
It's also possible that a particular usage or service triggers that. Maybe SMS / MMS / etc. Not sure.
Don't worry about it. If you have to pay more, you pay more. Wait and get out of contract, then switch to t-mobile or just tolerate it. I'm fairly certain that the most AT&T can do is kick you off as a customer, which--after the iphone free unlock--is arguably not a threat at all.

The only reason I want to stick with my current BLUE plan is the incredible North American package I have. No long distance or roaming anywhere in North America. I don't want to lose that.

I can't see where to edit sms settings on iPhone. I asume the phone must come pre-set with the new AT&T sms number which is not compatible with Blue Plan sims.
Someone must know how to change it....
