ATT billing after hack- HELP!
I have att with a corporate discount and decided to get an Iphone and use the hacktheiphone.com method. Will this remove my corporate discount? Logging onto att shows that my phone is now an IPHONE.
"F999: Due to temporary technical issues, you can view your current features as an iPhone customer, but you are not able to add or remove features online at this time. It used to say like $45 but now it's
Monthly Cost: $60.00
I did add the $19.99 media net bundle but I dont think that changed the cost from 45 to 60
--- did they remove my discount???????? HELP
(i havnt got my first bill so cant confirm how much they will charge me yet)
88 views? anyone?
I know the online stuff is weird and doesn't always reflect what you'll really get billed...
Call them. Explain your situation, they should oblige by correcting the issue.
Let me get it straight. You bought an iPhone and didn't activate it through iTunes, right?
Then you used some of the hacks in hacktheiphone to get it activated, right?
If that's so, I don't see how ATT would know that you have an iPhone now.
But, if you added the medianet bundle, and said you wanted it for an iPhone, you probably tipped the CS guy into getting you an iphone plan. You should've said you wanted medianet for a regular phone. I guess that might be your problem.
1. got iphone w/o contract
2. activated iphone w/ hacktheiphone.com instructions
3. went online to att and hit "add media bundle" , didn't have to talk to anyone
4. today I check and instead of $45 like before, now it says $60--- also the picture of my w810i is now an iphone. ATT actually can check what phone you are using because I used to have a SLVR and it had that picture before I switched to the w810i.
thx for the quick help guys--- i havn't actually got "billed" but just wondering if I will get billed $60 or not---
basically it's a family plan with me as the primary user... before it was like:
$10 additional line
$10 additional line
I'm worried now that I added the media bundle and now that it says $60, it'll be
$60 primary (not ok)
$10 additional line
$10 additional line
$20 media budle (which is ok)
oh it also still says LOCKHEED MARTIN CORP FAN#:######### <-with the code at the top of the page indicating im eligble for discount?

Well, They probably check that when you change data plans because they have different rates for different devices. For instance, they have a PDA data plan that is more expensive than a smart phone data plan.

Simply put your SIM back in your old phone and check ATT's web site. If the picture/model changes to your old phone's, then that means that ATT chacks the model all the time. If the picture remains the same (iPhone's), that probably means that ATT only checks when you change data plans. In this case I would try the procedure.
1) Cancel your data plan immediately.
2) Pop your SIM into your old phone.
3) Add the data plan again.
4) Wait until everything is working fine on your old phone (try using the data plan a little, check ATT's page to see if the picture has changed, how much they charged you, etc).
5) After that, put your SIM inside your iPhone and use the data plan a little.
6) Check ATT's page again and see if they changed anything, if the picture has changes, etc. I believe they won't change a thing, that you'll remain with a plan for your old phone even though you have the iPhone.
DISCLAIMER: This will probably trick ATT's system into thinking you're still using your old phone. I have no guarantees that will work, it's just an idea. Furthermore, I have no idea how ATT manages its internal affairs on those matters, so be advised this might no work for what your want.

That shouldn't be the case, ATT just checks what phone you're using because when I had a SLVR and bought a w810i (outside of att), it updated and said I was using the w810i......
They do not check your phone as a matter of course.
They may check your phone on "upgrade", or they may simply be scanning/checking on "upgrade" for iPhones.
Ok--- so I put my sim back into my old phone and the page instantly went from $60 to now saying:
Monthly Cost: $45.00
(media bundle is still there at $19.99)
I then tried it on ANOTHER phone (a d900 samsung) and it still says $45.....
My question for the ATT guru's is this:
Should I expect to lose my discount if I use the iphone? or will the page just show it like this and I'll actually get billed it'll be at the $45 rate?
This is really irritating me after getting a $600 phone, lol
You aren't being specific enough.
Are you saying that you switched your SIM into the non-iphone, connected to the ATT wireless network, and then without changing any settings - just reloading the page after some time your home page changed from "iphone" to an icon/price representing the proper phone?
Are you also saying that when you changed to the samsung phone, exactly as above, the picture/notation again changed to show a picture of the samsung phone?
I doubt this is what happened, but it is certainly possible that ATT is scanning for iphones (or being asynchronously notified by the phone itself) and automatically bumps the price. This move would make a large amount of the desire to hack moot.
