Question Arent .MOV video files supposed to play on the iPhpone?

I downloaded the following video to iTunes, where it plays just fine:

    http://feeds.nps.nl/~r/nova-vodcast/...b.20071210.mov

However, when I try to sync it to my iPhone, a dialog box shows up telling me that the iPhone cannot play the file and therefore it will not be copied to the phone.

I looked up the techical specs on the iPhone page at apple.com and as far as I understand .mov files are supposed to play on the iPhone.

    Why not in my case?

    Thanks,
    R o n

How to use Quicktime to convert .mov files. Or do I need Quicktime Pro to do so? My installed Quicktime Player (that came with iTunes) seems only to be able to play files.

And.. what format to convert the .mov into?

    Thank again.

Or for the Mac use MPEG streamclip - free. You export to Mpeg 4.
