Same thing happened with me, it just hung. I unplugged the iPhone, restarted it, then reconnected it again. It continued by itself automatically and it finally finished installing.

Hey Guys are you running Mac or Windows? If Mac I know mine was doing that too, but then realised you need to run the correct version for iTunes 7.4.x:

iTunes 7.4 or later: Download v3.1
    older iTunes versions: Download v2.4

Using the correct version of AppTapp Installer fixed the problem. I hope this helps?

I had this problem earlier today, with iTunes 7.4.1. Seemed to hang for an awfully long time, so I interrupted and did a restore (took two tries to do that), and started back at square one.

Ran apptap again. This time I turned on the activity monitor (in your Mac's utilities folder). Then I let it sit a loooong time. But I could see on the activity monitor that periodically new programs that were related to the phone were becoming active.

If you've ever tried to ssh into your iPhone, you'll know that sometimes ssh runs pretty quickly, and other times seems painfully slow. I'm not sure why that is, but I suspect that the long (15+ minutes) apptap is akin to having a very slow ssh session.

In the end, the apptap program loaded up fine. And on the next iPhone I tried to install apptap it loaded on pretty darn quickly.

    Good luck.
