Default syntrak I agree with you

    syntrak,

I agree with you, Apple is a very smart company that always think about their customers, also they want to sell more and more iphones, I would think that selling a unlock to certain customers that have problems activating their iphones on ATT or live on other country that would be a very smart decision.

For example I live in Mexico and I can't use my iphone with ATT, if Apple charges me $75 dollars I would pay them without problems to unlock my iphone and use it here in Mexico.

Also for example I have a friend that lives on New York an he can't activate the iphone because he is only living some months there, and ATT needs that you sign a contract for a lot of years, and also give them a big deposit or a credit card.

Let's see what Apple is going to do, on the meantime if Apple don't sell an unlock I will have to pay money to unlock it, and Apple or ATT is not going to receive a dollar from me if I do that, if they are smart they will sell an unlock code and receive some money.

I am sure that a lot of people would pay as much as $100 dollars for an unlock from Apple, that would be a lot of money from them from a lot of iphones that will never use ATT because they live on other countries or they use another phone company.

Also remember that a lot of companies are releasing new phones like nokia, if Apple don't do nothing to sell more iphones to almost all companies at the end they are going to have problems.

Right now you can buy all the nokia phones unlock from them, also you can buy almost any phone with all the cell companies.

Way to take a joke I made earlier today into a "serious" thread:

    http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthre...?t=4651&page=2

Let me get this straight: you think Apple will release their contractual obligations with AT&T not even 3 months after one of their largest releases since the iPod? What the hell are you thinking? They kept that crappy Rockr phone around longer!

As for Apple "caring" about their customers: if they cared so much, why did they go with such a crappy carrier? Why the lock out? This forum and the work of the dev team proves one thing about Apple:

They. Want. To. Make. Money. From. You.

They'll give you a knuckle sandwich before they'll give you a hand job, kids.

Apple can say that AT&T services are not the best ones bcoz they do a research on some people, they prefer T-Mobile or another cellular company so Apple just decide to broke up contract. So, they just sign up a new one with anyone, its just saying that cellular service is bad, report some bad opinions and its done

This will not happen.. Apple makes money for as long as the AT&T Customers have service.. even beyond the two year contract.. all the two year window does is give AT&T and Apple the chance to build a consistent customer base (and release unique feature beyond the two years if I was a betting man)

Any unlock will really on affect roll outs in other regions outside of the USA.

I do think they will bust a few unlocks (at least up to the two year mark in each region they have exclusive deals with)... but they wont be fast busts.. they will wait for peeps to love their iPhone then bust it and force them to sub at an approved network.

    my 2cents.

Yeah, not really. First off Apple entered into a legally binding contract with ATT to be the sole provider of the iphone for the next few years. Secondly If Apple or ATT does not hold up their end of the bargain one can sue the other for specific performance, which makes the party in default meet the terms of the contract. Think of it this way, ATT fines its customers if they break contract early, so there is no way that ATT is going to let Apple out of the contract without some form of monetary compensation to make up for profits lost from potential customers who are now using a service other than ATT.

Apple went with AT&T like they go for their ATI video cards in their iMacs. They're cheap. Low costs all around = larger profits all around.

To even suggest to AT&T now that they were to be backing out of their contract with them using the "your service was not what we expected" (which it isn't - its not like they didn't research the iPhone on the Edge network) would create more financial/legal headaches than it's worth for them.

And if they could sign up with someone else, anyone else, then they would lock the phone into that company too.

Has your iPod suddenly sprouted the ability to download songs from it to another computer? No? Why is that? Because they want you to use their services. Lock you into spending money with them. Hell the damn iPods converts your MP3s into their file format, unplayable on any other device. Much like YouTube videos have to be converted to their format on the iPhone. Lock and load.

    Default Explain me why?

If you don't believe that Apple can sell an unlock code, please explain to me this:

Why Apple sells the iphones on their shops, if they can only sell them on the ATT stores?

If they would like to avoid all of this problems the solution was to sell the iphones on the ATT stores directly, where people would sign right there a contract for over 2 years.

Apple is selling the iphones on their stores because of a reason, they are causing all this problems because any one can go and buy an iphone and later activated it by the methods everyone knows right here.

How much iphones have Apple sell that are not activated by ATT?

In my country you can't buy some phones if you don't do it directly with the cell company, that way they are 100% sure that the people that is buying that phone is going to contract the line directly with them.

I STILL BELIEVE THAT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOONER OR LATER APPLE WILL SELL AN UNLOCK CODE.

THE ONLY WAY TO STOP PEOPLE FOR HACKING THEIR IPHONES IS SELLING THE IPHONES ON ATT STORES.
