Now the problem is that open source requires some discussion... I don't think we can do this in IRC.. perhaps a seperate forum or mail list?

Great to hear that. Look forward for 1.1.3 firmware to make OTB 1.1.2 unlock possible

Yes isnt it horible? Now we can see the decline and fall of the iPhone Sim Unlock comminity. If you dont belive me look at the OSX86 forums and notice how everything went down hill once we lost a good controlled source of good install disks, kernels, etc. It became a "me too" comunity with every discution starting with "which of the twenty compeeting methods did you use".
Then of course you are going to have people just using the source code to make large amounts of money and give nothing back to the community, compeeting teams that hate one another, and of course Apple now being able to quickly break the AnySIM app when ever they want. After all Apple will no longer have to play with the app to see how to block it, they can just remove every hook that is refered to in the source code and community SDK that they dont need.
There are many things with the iPhone that should be oppen source, but AnySIM is the one that needs to not be open source. Hope everyone is ready for all of the individual compiled in development releases of the app that will break every newbies iPhone because they cant tell a real release from a kid playing with a compiler and placing it on bittorent. Then of course they will come to places like this and start posting streams of obscenities about how the dev team destroyed their iPhone. -.-

    I second this and complement:

Now Apple has access to source code as well, they could improve their own (past) flaws we could be using to gain advantage over them.

Either way, everything should be gone in a few months. iPhone 2 can arrive with so many changes that all we are doing right now will be just past.

OTOH, great move for Dev Team. One can, by "accident", get another interesting way to do new things and, who knows what good (or bad) can happens from now on.

    /salute
