Exclamation anySIM not installer.app, read why

NullRiver has decided they did not want anySIM.app to be available in the Community Sources list of packages available in Installer.app. They believe it could draw negative attention Installer.app from Apple/AT&T and hinder third party development. Feel free to voice your opinion at #installer.app on Undernet and let us know what you think. In order to install you must add our beta repository.
    from: http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/...-installer.app

It''s our believe this decision was infulenced by personal issue zigzag/lg had with the dev team in first place and don't welcome this behavior. anySIM was developed with the aim of a easy to use, opensource, free unlock solution, which is legal even according to the US laws. It's hard to believe a unlock application would drag more negative attention than distributing a one click installer for "unauthorized" third party applications.

We second the idea of voicing your opinion to their IRC channel and let them know how you feel about this situation to the disadvantage of the community towards easy installation of the properly most downloaded application (150.000 downlaods so far just for gui , still going).

Steps to add the beta repository are below:

To gain access to our beta repository you will need to add it to the sources via Safari on the iPhone.

    1. Launch Safari
    2. Enter http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/beta/ in the url box and hit go. (trailing slash matters)
    3. A dialog will pop up asking you if you want to add the repository, click "Yes".
    4. Installer.app will add the source.

I think the DEVTEAM should introduce their own installer application, and have a repository. Haven't there also been issues with Nullriver and the developers of the NES application.
I don't think Nullriver is a reliable partner. I believe as soon as they have established themselves, they will begin charging for the access to the repository.

I'm not really surprised. Although the installer let install unauthorized third party apps, it doesn't make ATT loose contracts and put Apple in bad position. That could be a point of view. Now does this decision have something to do with your relationship, that's another story I can't comment.

It would be in communiy sources repro anywas so where is the point? It's not a nullriver maintanced responsity but they enforce their "will" to it, for whatever reason.
Same thing as with the NES emulator before, all resulting in a disadvantage for the user which is not that a great deal.

Don't get me wrong. I totally agree with you. I just give an idea why they could refuse anysim. But as you mention, they may have other reasons.
