Alternatives to unlocking 1.0.2? Safe to restore then upgrade to 1.1.1?
I've unlocked my 1.0.2 iPhone with no problems. However, my sister bought one for me to unlock, and it had firmware 1.1.1 stock. I downgraded it to 1.0.2 and did everything except unlock it. Neither AnySIM 1.0.2 nor unlock.pxl worked for unlocking it. So my question is, would it be safe to do a restore to 1.0.2 to wipe out the 3rd party apps and then upgrade to 1.1.1? I'd like to try AnySIM 1.1.1.
But then, are there any other alternatives to unlocking on 1.0.2?
the newest anysim SHOULD unlock your 1.0.2 firmware with 1.1.1 baseband.
As you downgraded the 1.1.1. phone to 1.0.2 the baseband stayed at the higher version. You can confirm the status of the baseband firmware by looking into settings-general-about. your modem firmware should be 4.01.13_G
Therefore anysim 1.0.2 was unable to unlock your phone.
As your baseband firmware was never touched you can use anyim 1.1.1. to unlock.
Also you can upgrade or restore with itunes the phone to 1.1.1 and then use CARNAVAL and anysim 1.1.1 to unlock.
It doesnt matter whether you use anysim 1.1. now or later after an upgrade/restore.
Ah, thanks. Does anyone know where I can download/install it? I usually use iBrickr, and it's not on the app list there.
Nevermind, figured it out. Thanks for the help, both of you.
