    Default [all]UK, where to buy?

The iPhone seems to be the same price from the Apple web store as from Carphone Warehouse (physical shop). Apparently you can get just the phone without contract from either place. I'd rather get it from the shop.

Are there any other points to consider? As I'm going to (try) to unlock it for another network and not register with O2, it looks like Apple deny hardware warranty for it, which is not cool but I guess I will take my chances.

    Thanks!

I think even if you buy it from the shop you pay 269 for it and you suppose to activate it through Itunes and select your price plan from there too.

But then I guess you do the jailbreak and unlock and then your sorted.

Is this correct. So if i went to a o2 shop or carphone warehouse I just pay 269 initiallly then?

You can buy it from Apple stores for 269, or of course online.
I'm not sure what happens if you try and buy in Carphone Warehouse or O2 stores - they may make you sign up for a contract at the shop.

So if there is an Apple store near you get it from there, if there isn't you can try Carphone Warehouse. But its the same price online and delivery only takes 1-2 days so it doesn't really matter.

If you unlock the iPhone the warranty will be rendered void. However I have heard if you restore the phone to factory state before sending it to Apple to be repaired (should it need to be) you can sometimes get away with it.

OK! That's what I thought. (And I'm pretty sure you can get it without contract from CW, whereas O2 will insist you sign the contract)

Is there anything to prevent you sending it back to Apple anyway, if it was bought from a CW shop? (restored/virginized as necessary)? Or would you have to take it back to CW?
I know it's a bit of an academic question
