Hi, yes...I am a noob
I need to make my iphone fresh out of box status including erase everything and re-lock it.
I searched, but I have way too much information to handle as a noob.
I wish I can find a sticky about how to virginize iphone, but I couldn't.


First off : I have 1.1.2 OTB running on 1.1.4. Used ziphone to unlock so I have 3.9BL. And I am windows xp user.

It looks like I have to upgrade BL to 4.6, erase BB, then restore using itune.

I think Bootneuter is the best way, but still have few questions.

1. If I use Bootneuter then set 4.6 bl and everyting to off, will it take care BL upgrade and erase BB at the same time?

2. How do you install Bootneuter to your iphone?
I found a source that I can download Bootneuter using installer, but it says I have to install it in root folder or something. I have no idea on that.
plus, is there a way to install Bootneuter using my computer?

If anyone knows easier way than Bootneuter, please let me know.

I am sorry to ask noob questions, but please help.

DFU & Restore to 1.1.4 first to get a clean start (kind of besides the 3.9BL)

To DFU:
1. hold power + home
2. in a few sec, red slider appears, continue holding til phone reboot
3. count to 6
4. let go power
5. keep holding home until itunes detect it or if you hear a connection tone (like plugging in a usb device on Windows), let go of home.

Screen should be black all the time beginning at step 3

If itunes say it need to check for "... version on the server..", let it check, after that you will see the restore button. shift-click restore (Option-click on Mac) and select the 1.1.4 FW and let it restore to locked 1.1.4.

Download iLiberty (Windows or Mac) and use the programm to
Jailbreak/Activate/Installer/
Then install Bootneuter/BSD from installer (Bootneuter will be set correct)

Goto "Settings -> General" Set "Auto-Lock" to never

Start Bootneuter
when run bootneuter, set
BL to 4.6
neuter = off
unlock = off
fb = off

hit flash. Let it run and wait. Don't touch/hit anything.

After That use iTunes to restore to 1.1.4 fw.

will it work on my 1.0.2 too? my installer app crashes now after the new update and i need to verginize it to be able to update to 1.1.4, so how do i verginize without installer?

There are some reports that the updated installer wont work on 1.0.2. You could use WinSCP (Windows) or Cyberduck/Fugu (Mac) to connect via SFTP to your iPhone and delete Installer app.
Then copy an older working installer to the iPhone. After starting the new "old" Installer dont do the update, but viginize.

Proced as described above but use different settings for Bootneuter. Peekapoo wants to relock the iPhone, you want to use it upgraded. So your settings for Bootneuter:

Goto "Settings -> General" Set "Auto-Lock" to never

Start Bootneuter
when run bootneuter, set
BL to 3.9
neuter = on
unlock = on
fb = off

hit flash. Let it run and wait. Don't touch/hit anything.


You are done then.

im still on 102 too, havent been convinced to update with all te hassle, but my installer wont install any more either

Everybody's doing it

1.1.4 has heaps of new features and bugs gone

To get the old installer, just run AppTapp installer from iphone.nullriver.com and choose version 1.0.2 or whatever you are running.
And then install "The Virginizor" from the i.unlock.no installer source.

After that, upgrade to 1.1.4 and either:

Pwn your iPhone, restore to a custom 1.1.4 ipsw
or
Jailbreak and activate with iLiberty+ (not unlock) and then, in installer, download and install BootNeuter. After that set the following settings and then click "flash" in the top right:

BOOTLOADER: 3.9 (or 4.6 if it came with that)
NEUTER: ON
FAKEBLANK: OFF
UNLOCK: ON

DO NOT DISTURB THE BOOTNEUTER WHILE HE IS WORKING. You don't want something bad to happen. To feel safer, set autolock to Never in "Settings -> General -> Auto Lock"

We used BootNeuter because it "Future-Proofs" your iPhone so that it can be unlocked and downgraded easily with its neutered bootloader.

at least step to 1.1.2 before installer really puts you guys in the old folks home.....
