Default [Advice] Turning off 3G Network on iphone

I am currently with AT&T. I have access to the new iphone. I would like to use my regular AT&T service and use the WIFI to surf the web. Is there a way to turn off the 3G connection? I don't want a surprising bill at the end of the month.

    Moving you to 3G section

At the moment all 3G items go in > 3G - The New Generation

I believe you can turn off 3g just as easily as you turn off wifi in settings
