    Default [Advice] Should i buy an iPhone or a N95 and why ?

    Hi guys,

    I am about to purchase Nokia N95 but someone told me that I should purchase an iPhone. I am very confused and unable to decide what I should purchase. Can anyone tell me which one is the best and why? Please drop me your opinions.

    Thanks in advance!

    My friend has the US N95 and I have an iPhone. And each phone has its advantages and disadvantage.

    Here are some of my observations, and input by my friend when he was playing with my iPhone.

    N95 has a better camera 5 MP and it has flash, but the entire phone is bulky as heck. iPhone only has 2MP and no flash, but pictures looks great on the screen.

    N95 can browse using 3G, but the browser sucks and the screen is small. iPhone has no keyboard, but the N95 doesn't have a full keyboard either.

    N95 has GPS, and iPhone doesn't but Im currently using Navizon on my iPhone, while its no true GPS, it does provide me with the info I need when im on the go.

    For my personal taste, Id get the iPhone over the N95. ( my friend is only using the N95 cuz it was a gift from his gf )

    I agree with Kubi; take the iPhone over the N95. They are both great phones, but the Nokia's internet browser is sub par compared to the iPhone's great web browsing. The N95 is also as big as a brick.

    I'm using both an iPhone and a Nokia N95 8GB (that's the black model with a larger screen and twice the amount of RAM than the 1st one). The 2 phones are totally different and although my heart goes with the iPhone, if I had to choose one to keep I'd stick to the Nokia. There are too many reasons why.... here are the first that come to my mind:

    1) N95 uses both 3G and HSDPA so if you want to surf the web using your laptop you'll go as fast as if you were home on your ADSL
    2) N95 has loud speakers you can hear in any condition: be it a busy street, a heavy metal concert etc.
    3) N95 has a physical keyboard and Nokia T9 is the best and fastest ever
    4) N95 has open Blue tooth 2.0: that means you can send and receive anything you want with no restrictions and in a very fast manner.
    5) N95 can send/receive MMS.
    6) N95 takes pictures so beautiful you can print them and put them in frames (as I often did).
    7) N95's native browser can display every website (yes even those with FLASH animations), and although the screen is way smaller than that on the iPhone the rendering is so much faster you can't compare them.
    8) finally being N95 a Nokia running on Symbian you can find so much software (and no need to hack the little toy to make it work) for all your needs that once you get used to it you'll hardly go back to any other phone.

    Having said that the iPhone is the sexiest of all the phones out there, so at the end of the day it all comes down to what do you need your phone for! If you use it only for making/receiving calls I'd go with the iPhone. If you need it as a business tool go with Nokia.

    No doubt about it, you should buy iPhone. Buying N95 is a step back to a century ago!
    -> iPhone 2G 1.1.1 (OTB)
    -> iPhone 2G 1.1.2 (Anysim)
    -> iPhone 2G 1.1.4 (iPlus2.0b)
    -> iPhone 2G 2.0.1 (Winpwn 2.0.0.4)
    -> iPhone 2G 2.0.2 (Quickpwn RC3 [1.51])
    -> iPhone 2G 2.1.0 (WinQuickpwn 2.1)

    Can you elaborate your reply? Have you ever used a N95? Are you aware of the differences between 3G/HSDPA and EDGE?

    May I add that to some people having a phone with a 2 MPX camera (with NO autofocus and NO flash), no usable Blue Tooth (let's face it - it's like not having it), and running only on EDGE networks is ridiculous today. This is acceptable on a 3-4 years old handset.

    Considering the majority of people here use iphones or atleast own one its going to learn alot more towards the +iphone. Your results are probably going to be a little bias. Use google as your main source of information. Read the pro's and cons from both users on this thread and specs from the web. It really boils down to what YOU need. 1000 people can tell you "buy an iphone" but that doesnt me squat. Your best bet is to research them, then PLAY WITH ONE yourself. Find a friend who has a N95 and one that has an iphone. Browse the interface, feel the weight, try the web....

    Like i said it depends on what you need. How important is image quality? Keep in mind your location... (i live in a small town, 3g isnt even an option) How long will you keep the phone? Do you intend to replace things (ipod/digital camera/laptop). Can you text + multitask on a touchscreen?

    Keep in mind no phone is perfect, but can you expand on the hardware you are given? iPhone SDK coming soon.... but so is iPhone 2.

    Personally i went with an iphone. I enjoy the experience, attention i get, and all-in-1 feel. It lacks a few features but there are half-decent work arounds.

    I had the same internal struggle, both phones are awesome. I eventually decided to go with the iPhone because my town doesn't have 3G just yet and I loved the bigger, touch screen. I played with the N95 for about a week and I played with an iPhone for about a week, but I picked the iPhone because I enjoyed it more than the N95. But I agree with the post above, it's all about your personal experience and what you need in a phone.
