Default [Advice]Need U.S. Address for Repair

    Hi guys,

I have a 1st gen iPhone, and living in Australia.
But it did not receive signal and it shows 1011 error when restore now.
I do no have any idea.

So, I decide to call Apple Call Center though out of warranty...
    *but less than 1 year

    He said
"I can exchange your iPhone but we can not pick it up at out of U.S."

    I need following steps.

1.Send my iphone from Australia to U.S. address
2.Apple delivery pick it up at the address
3.Exchanged iPhone and send back to the address
    4.Send to Australia

Does anybody know the service in U.S. ?
Bought 27/11/2007 at Ala Moana in Hawaii.
    It is 42 weeks.

    Well, you are lucky.

I've tried ad to exchange a 2G (1st generation) iPhone in NYC and they required the original sales receipt, the original SIM card, and the AT&T number associated with the phone (they said they will only handle AT&T activated phones).

The same happened at the Apple Store in Boston.

Yes, http://www.vpostasia.com/ Join for free and only pay for items you ship.

    However, it works like this.

    1) You call Apple iPhone Support.

    2) They determine that your Phone needs to be returned to Apple.

    3) They ask for your address etc. you give them your vpost address).

    4) Apple send a return paid package (for you to use to pack your iPhone) to your vpost address.

    5) Vpost send this package to you in Australia.

    6) You pack your iPhone in the special Apple packaging.

    7) Now you send your iPhone back to Apple (to the return address supplied by Apple) - Yes you pay for the postage to Apple USA. It is easier and cheaper and safer, than paying to send it to vPost, and then getting them to re-send it to Apple.

    Cheers!

In the before, I asked my U.S. friend to bring a iPhone to Apple Store.
He was said by Apple staff.
"You have to register at AT&T first, we can replace after that."

This is almost same with your situation.

I recommend you to call Apple Call Center, and say "Before activation, my iPhone has never wake up. So replace it."

Actually my iPhone can wake up though only iTunes connection mark.
But I think Apple will replace it.

    Hi A3Australia,

    Thank you for your advice.
Actually I have already ordered Japanese transfer service in US.
But your information is very useful.
    I will bookmark it.
