I am in New York on vaction. my iphone has just started acting up. everything works but the phone function. when i the phone tab it open and than closes. i cant dial out at all. when someone calls it doesnt show the display where i have the option to select speaker or contacts etc.

I am assuming the phone aspect of the plist is messed up. Can someone help me out???/ the phone is on at&t but it jailbroken using ziphone. i can receive calls like i said but cant open the phone function to dial out or go throught contacts.

I dont have my computer around to restore it. i have alot of stuff on my phone i need to keep. any suggestion would be appreciated. i can download winscp to get in the phone.

try erasing all content and settings in the settings menu if you want a mini restore on the go

yeah i am not going to do that at this point cuz it might no work. i have alot of important stuff on there. i cant back up my phone.

hmm well do you know what the last thing you installed before your phone app started to crash?

Yeah, well i installed Caterpillar back on the 20th. and ive noticed it still activated. so i went to the option to have a 5 icon dock. but when i hit that option i didnt restart the phone. so i just went back and deselected the option and restarted the phone. than i noticed this proplem. i unistalled the Dev Caterpillar program. but its still on my settings and i can still selct things. its weird. now my phone wont dial out. i am assuming it messed around with the phone Plist, changing something.

your fucked, i had cat app and i had its smart dialer installed, unistalled , phone app crashed and phone went in to semi sleep, where you lock the phone but the light only dims not goes out, you need a restore thats the only thing i can suggest, i even killed the launch deamons and my phone still crashed, its a nightmare app, after that i never ran it again, i suggest you do the same

if i restore my phone will i lose my notes on note pad and my text messages????

they should be backed up on your comp, if you do a restore itunes will then ask if you then want to put your most recent back up on it, on another not, your not the only one to complain about this app, there is few in this fourm and i think in another its just a plain bad app, that needs work

I am on 1.1.3.... can i update the phone to 1.1.3 you know hold shift and just update to 1.1.3. I dont want 1.1.4. will that erease all my content?

before you do anything like that i have a idea for your notes, why dont you install capture app and take a picture of them , then email the picture to yourself that way you at least have the pics of them, i at least want to try and help you salvage some stuff if you dont mind
