[Advice] A Canadian in america...need data plan.
Hey guys, hopefully you guys can lend some expertise. I haven't seen anyone really in my situation so here goes.
I live in Ontario, Canada. I want to pick up an iPhone and unlock it. No problems here.
The situation is, I will be touring USA in a band for 30 days. I don't really care for the phone aspect, but I want the email/messaging/internet.
The options that my research have found.
1) Use rogers canada and pay $65 unlimited data plus international roaming data charges of 5cents a kilobyte ($128 for a video clip) - no thanks
2) Get a ipod touch and use a wifi plan like boingo or Wayport (wifi in every mcdonalds ain't bad, but its 30-50$ for only certain areas...not so good when moving on the road)
3) Unlock phone and use a data only plan (doesn't matter from who)
4) get a sidekick, i can do prepaid 30$ for a dollar a day unlimited data usage
If I unlocked the iphone, who can I get a unlimited data only plan for use in America - for only one month (so no contracts)? I've heard about tzones but thats an addon for tmobile customers only. is there a blackberry plan that will work on the iphone that can be bought in one month or pay as you go? I don't care who I'm with, At&T or Tmobile or whoever else will work.
Last resort, I'll get a sidekick, but it is bulky, looks lame, no third party apps, and doesn't even have video playback, and will instantly become useless when I'm in Canada.
Thanks for the help guys.

Look into T-Mobile, they have something called flexpay which is basically like having thier full service but without a contract... There is a couple restrictions on features, but I think you'll be fine with using the iphone and data/sms...

Okay, that sounds good. It says flexpay works with all plans? So which plan would I need?

There's blackberry, internet only, and sidekick plans.
Internet only looks pretty good, but no text messages.
What features would Flexpay knock off those plans, and what features in the iphone would become incompatible with internet only plans?
Thanks for the reply.
