[Advice] Can you still get an old iPhone ?
Hi,
Since the new 3G iPhones are only available with a 2-year contract I'm trying to get another "old" iPhone. In the apple store on the internet there is nothing said about the "old" iPhones. They just advertise for the new ones but do not sell the old ones in the store.
So my question is can I still get an "old" iPhone in an apple store in the USA (Oregon)?
Best Regards

no store has new ones.
on 3g introduction day, there will be LOTS more used edge-only iPhones!
don't expect them to be cheap! $350+ US .. no contract easily unlockable.

I dont think apple would sell the old ones anymore. Why would they sell them when they have a better version.

2.0 can still go back to 1.1.4, so they would be unlockable.
it's the 3g hardware that makes them tough to unlock (especially for t-mobile US)

you'll find that t-mobile US and at&t run different frequencies for 3g service.

The going rate for a used iPhone is between $200 to $300 and I expect that the price will fall to $150 after July 11th. Most ATT customers will sell their iPhone and buy a 3G iPhone for $199. Most people don't mind contracts and they will be getting a new 3G iPhone for almost nothing after selling their old iPhone. I expect the market will be flooded with old iPhones after July 11th since most of the iPhone users in the USA are ATT customers with contracts.
