[Advice] Buying a New iPhone
okay, after alot of thinking between different mobile types , i am settled on buying iphone ( in spite of it not having GPS and 3G ) but i am in love with it looks and UI.
but one question before i get down and get it, what do i must be aware of when buying an iphone, do i need to check anything in it ( i am living in Egypt ). like which firmware which BL ??!! or anything else??
and if i get an iphone with 3.9BL, i wont be able to update to 4.6BL, is this right?
but from what i am reading till now , thats nothing useful in 4.6BL , as u cant unlock it!!
thanks in forward...
and really guys great forum , one of the main reasons i am convinced about getting an iPhone is the amazing helpful and resourceful community here.

If you get a brand new one it will be 1.1.4 OTB and 4.6 bl you can unlock it but it will require that you downgrade the bootloader or that you use a older baseband. I suggest you read the iplus sticky in software unlock. Also welcome to hackint0sh

then there is no certain advantage of chosing a specific firmware version over other or BL ??

the supposed best right now is 3.9bl running any firmware seeing as how you can pretty much run wild with it, as for those on 4.6 they have a choice of going to 3.9bl permeneantly or they can go to 3.9fb which is like 3.9bl but it can be upgraded back to 4.6 at anytime

one more question guys, seems there a problem here in Egypt in buying iphone..
guys here already unlock the phone before selling it...
i dont know really how they unlock it really , i tried to search for an untouched one but i cant find one at all.. i am really worried about this..
so anyone could tell if i bought one which already unlocked , can i remove everything they done to the phone and restore it to zero and unlock and jailbreak and activate through iplus or ziphone with trusty method....
and how can i know the firmware and BL before taking the phone from the shop??
so long story short, how can i know when i am at shop that they unlocked the phone without problems and which firmware and BL it have now , and will be able to wipe everything they done and redo it the hackint0sh way

Yes you will be able to wipe everything, restore a 1.1.3 FW and Active/Jailbreak/Unlock it.
