to wipe it clean, restore 114 on it.
but dont sync or restore your info on it, skip that part.

here is the catch, they will only replace your iphone if you have an ATT account which can be activated on the spot.

they will remove the sim from old one, place it in a new one and have you activate it, if it wont activate, meaning you dont have an ATT plan then most likely they will not replace it.

so make sure you can activate it on the spot or else dont bother.

i'm assuming this is for the USA, as all iphones in the states require activation for ATT.

    good luck.

When you go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do and enter your serial number it says you dont need to have your iPhone activated with AT&T to get warranty. So print this out and show it to them when they make problems.

Start bootneuter and disable neutering and unlokcing and make sure to DFU restore with apple's original ipsw.

There's this program, Bootneuter I think, you can switch back and forth between bootloader 3.9 and newer, and apple wont even notice. but I don't think they will take it back, they will just try to fix it... :S who knows...

As i've stated before, this only applies to the first two weeks you have the phone. Which if you read the information you got with your iphone, states that you have just 14 days to activate the phone or return it.

Unless you're willing to signup to an ATT package before you return your phone, you're shit out of luck.

People need to stop thinking that apple owes them a warranty when they clearly void it by unlocking and by choosing not to activate with an original carrier.

first use bootneuter to change bootloader to 3.9, then restore to 1.1.4 and do not sync your information. Then you should be fine, if they dont replace it, wait a couple of days and put your phone in DFU mode, take it to them and say your of doesnt recognize it even though its in DFU mode. Because DFU doesnt load the os they should replace it, unless they try restoring on one of their macs....

they will try to restore.. and if you got a bored genius, he may even do more..

try to take it on a really really busy day.. use bootneuter to put 3.9bl on there, restore it to factory 1.1.1 condition (if they fiind it on 1.1.4 when it was 1.1.1 OTB it will raise a red flag)

your biggest prob is HOW you know wifi is igiving trouble or its rebooting constantly?? you could only know that if it was activated.

you may need to rethink your return stratergy (microwave as a last resort)

but apple stores are more and more insisting on activation after service/replacement. and you need to print your warranty info and literally stick it in their face and say its a gift or you already have an account to register.
