i myself have already taken an iphone to the apple store, it was faulty. and it was unlocked with a tmobile sim in it.

when you take it in, they will gladly replace it with a brand new one, provided you can activate your new phone on the spot. if you can't do this, they will NOT give you the fone.

simply put fone in DFU, restore 114. then you MUST have axs to an ATT sim card which you can activate on the spot in the new fone.

    borrow your friends ATT sim.

otherwise you are out of luck.

now I dont understand two things:
the first one is any chance without activating?
and the second one is if I noe try to activate with my OTB ATT simcard...means nothing to get anxious?
thanks again for your helps and answers

My iphone's screen just died and after working fine for a week. It was 1.1.2 OTB and it has been J/A and I was using next sim with it. So I restored it back to factory default and sent it to a mate in US ( I live OS) who took it to the store and like someone said earlier the apple guy said u need to be activated to get warranty. But my friend insisted that it was wrong as he could not see anything on the screen and the guy went inside and confirmed it with senior guy. Then they took the phone overnight to check it and gave him a new one next day. It was a 1.1.4. Hope this helps you.

well, i think the apple store became harder at this time. I just went to apple store today (appointment with genius bar) it turned out that they asked me for At&T activation and i just told them that "can you activate it for me?" (since the bottom part of my phone is not working). It was s*ck big time because the phone is still recognize with itune... when it came to "existing user and tranfer # to At&t" I just told them that i don't have mine account number...Well, they told me to contact At&T . Just took the iphone back home without "swappin'" . So, i suggest u to make the phone completely dead (microwave or do whatever you can). Make sure take out the sim card...good luck.
