Do you know if these steps at http://www.anderson-technologies.com/archives/5 will allow you to use the youtube function at all? Has anyone used these steps with success? and can the phone be deactivated if needed?

There is a deactivate command mentioned on that page . It is ./tool --deactivate I imagine this reverts the phone back to its new in box condition? That way you could purchase a phone contract with it to use all the features.
