[Activating] Is there an alternative to using an unactivated AT&T sim card ?

Downgraded from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 firmware from phone bought on e-bay. I am trying to activate using *#307#* method but have discovered through a forum that you need an unactivated AT&T SIM card to unlock it and run anysim. I only have my already activated SIM card from rogers here in canada, is there any other option to try or do i have to try and track down an unactivated AT&T sim card on e-bay? Any help would be appreciated.

you can run anysim with your rogers sim. there is no problem.
but before running anysim just make sure that your phone is virginzed.

If you are downgrading from 1.1.2 *DO NOT ATTEMPT* to virginize!!

That is exactly what i did, downgraded from 1.1.2. So the best bet is to use an unactivated AT&T card then.

Doesn't matter what SIM you use.

iPhone will just complain about a non approved SIM.

You can jailbreak/activate without using an AT&T SIM.

That is what i originally thought but when i try to activate the phone by dialing *#307#* it just throws me out to the first page of the activation screen saying improper sim, it won't ring nor will it go back to the dial pad so i can enter 0. And when i try and use my rogers sim it does the same with a different message like improper sim card. Any ideas?

Try *#307# and NOT *#307#*

Hi friends, first time poster. I have a US Samsung Blackjack, and it is unlocked. I do not wish to have it unlocked. I am going to Israel in April, and I will need to be able to use my phone. AT&T told me, today, that the best way to go was either buy a prepaid there at Orange, or wherever, or to buy a sim card there. They said, oddly, that I could NOT buy the sim card here in the states at all.

Suggestions?
